Hunt the Assassin is the sequel to the highly popular Kill Victoria! which received excellent reviews, particularly in The Citizen and Pretoria News, and was about an attempt to assassinate Queen Victoria in 1897.

The sequel is set in Britain and South Africa in 1898, where the Anglo Boer War was looming and where much wildcat mining was taking place in the still savage South African bushveld.
