In 1979, Lord Louis Mountbatten was assassinated at Mullaghmore, County Sligo by the IRA. A member of a splinter group of the Irish Republican Army Tommy McMahon was apprehended and convicted of the killing, Tommy McMahon received a life sentence, while the remainder of his group were never brought to justice. In 1992, McMahon from his cell, is aiding the British government in creating the groundwork for the Stormont peace initiatives. The Real IRA is determined to prevent this by launching another attack on a member of the British Royal family. Harry Canham, an ex-British SIS case officer, is called upon by his old service to infiltrate The Real IRA and identify the group planning the attack. For Canham, it becomes a race against time to prevent another Royal assassination and the breakdown of the Anglo-Irish peace initiatives. To do this, he must find and stop the assassin known only as the Sligo Piper. |
